Four Years Strong.

Our love story isn't quite The Notebook; however, it is unique to us and that makes it so very special. Over ten years ago, I spotted my handsome fellow from across the room and I knew I had to make him mine. I quickly snagged him up and I refused to ever let him go. Six years of dating, four blissful years of marriage, two homes, and one amazing year of parenthood later, and I could't be more in love with that same man I spotted so many years ago.

To me, love is bringing me a hot cup of coffee in the morning, or waking up with the baby in the middle of the night when he is teething. Love is anxiously awaiting his arrival home every evening from work so that we can share simple stories from our days over a home-cooked meal. It is admitting that we are wrong, and then apologizing for our mistakes. It is back scratches before bed and waffles in the morning. It is the way you look at our little boy when he sleeps, or smiles, or laughs. To love you, Kiel Drake,  is such a privilege. And although some days can be challenging, the good heavily outweighs the bad, and I wouldn't want to be on this roller coaster ride of a life with anyone but you. I can't wait to spend many, many more anniversaries together. xo

and what a beautiful day it was...

Two Years

Kiel and I just celebrated our two year anniversary this week. It's so hard to believe that our wonderful wedding day was that long ago. I remember always hearing that the older you get, the faster time flies. What a true statement. It feels like just yesterday that I walked down that aisle.

We went to France of our honeymoon, and stayed just outside of Nice on the Mediterranean. It was everything I am imagined a honeymoon to be. Romantic views, fine wine, cool nights, and of course some much needed downtime. I am so excited to be heading back to France for our two year anniversary. Paris has so much to offer and I can't wait to see all the sights with my favorite person in the world.

Kiel is a wonderful and thoughtful gift giver. He always sticks with the appropriate-themed gift for each anniversary. In celebration of two years of marriage, the recommended traditional gift is cotton, and the modern gift is china. He decided to do both, and  he bought me two amazing items from Anthropologie.

What can I say, the man knows me well.  I, on the other hand, am not quite as good at this whole gift giving thing. I ended up going with a Nixon watch that Kiel has had his eye on for some while. Anyway, I think he was happy with it!

Congratulations to our amazing friends, Danielle and Chris Morley! They had a beautiful wedding on the beach yesterday in Long Beach Island, NJ and it could not have been more perfect! The love was palpable.

First Post. The Big Day.

I have been wanting to start a blog for sometime now. I feel this is a great time for me to start documenting my many adventures. I have been married now for about one and a half years to the love of my life and very best friend, Kiel. We are both Delawareans, born and raised. I work as an ICU nurse in a local level one trauma center. And my husband and his father run a local automotive business. About three years ago, Kiel and I settled into our home in the suburbs of Wilmington, DE. We've spent most our time together traveling the globe and seeing all sorts of interesting sights. Now that we're hitched and financially stable, we are looking to settle down and expand the family. I have found myself to have become very domesticated over the last few years. My mid-twenties have shown to be very interesting. Managing a marriage and household, while working shift work has proven to be hard work, but I am learning all sorts of new things along the way. From cooking to home decor, I have truly ventured outside my comfort zone these past few years. But what I'm really learning, is that I LOVE doing it all and I've honestly never been happier! I wanted to start a blog that incorporated all of these things.... our travels, home, marriage, and hopefully soon parenthood. But for starters, I figured I'll begin with some memories and photos from our wedding day.

It was a beautiful sunny day in September 2010. I slept at my parents the night before the big day to avoid bad luck and Kiel stayed at our home, only a mile away, with friends and our pup. We got married and had our reception at Greenville Country Club. All the bridesmaids and I made our way up to Greenville around 9am. We spent all morning up in the bridal suite getting our hair and make-up done. The suite overlooked the garden where Kiel and I were married. My girls and I were able to sip champagne and watch as the two hundred seats were filled below. Our ceremony was short and sweet. My Godmother married us and my Father played us a song. It was truly beautiful. Our reception was also held outside on the veranda under massive tents. It was a beautiful setting for a wedding and the weather was just perfect, thank god. It literally feels like this all happened just yesterday.
