2013 has been my favorite year of all time. Alec has brought so much joy to our lives and we are so blessed that things have worked out so well for us. So many prayers have been said over this past year for our little boy and I truly believe they have had a large impact on Alec's overall health. His cheeks are getting bigger by the minute and each week he reaches another milestone. We couldn't be more proud. I cannot wait to see what 2014 brings.

Alec had a wonderful first Christmas. In fact, we all had a great holiday. Our family and friends were more than generous. He got so many fabulous gifts... adorable new outfits, an exersaucer, and tons of new books to read together. Most importantly, he got to spend time with our amazing family. He still gets a little overwhelmed in crowds, but he's getting better with each get-together. I can only imagine what next Christmas will be like... complete chaos I'm sure. I am really looking forward to playing Santa next year! It will be awesome to see his reaction on Christmas morning once he understands the whole concept of Christmas.. Santa.. etc. Thank you to all who spoiled our little one with presents and love. He is truly lucky to have you all!

Five Favorite Winter Treats

For those of you who don't know already, I am a HUGE fan of trader joe's. It is the best grocery store on earth. I rarely get a chance to visit this wonderful place as of late. Alec isn't a huge fan of long car rides these days. But when I get a chance it is SO worth the drive. Why... Affordably priced, delicious foods with lots of healthy, organic options. One of my favorite things about this store is their seasonal items. I look forward to each change of season in hopes of seeing some of my favorite treats arriving again on their shelves!

and yes.. I will openly admit that I occasionally eat cookie butter by the spoonful.

Over the Weekend...

I had to work Friday and Saturday night so Kiel and the babe got plenty of quality time together over the weekend. Saturday afternoon, when I woke up, I snuggled Alec and Ollie for quite some time before getting myself together for work. It was wonderful. Sunday morning we went to 'Breakfast with Santa' with the rest of my fam and Alec got his picture with the big guy in red. Afterward, we trucked our way home in the snow(the roads were horrific) and took some photos in front of the tree with our boy. Later in the afternoon, we lit a fire, made some hot cocoa, and watched the Eagles. Overall.. it was a pretty perfect weekend and I hope yours was too!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

I had to work last Christmas. That morning, while at work, a co-worker/friend encouraged me to take a pregnancy test. For some reason, she had a weird 'hunch' that Kiel and I were expecting. At that point, we had been trying to get pregnant for several months. I still hadn't missed a period, so I thought nothing of her 'hunch' and carried on with my nursing duties until my shift was over. I got off of work around 11:30 am and headed home to celebrate the holiday with the fam. When I got home, Kiel and pup were lounging around and I was rushing to get myself together for the afternoon celebrations.

Amidst my hurry...
I had to pee...
when I went to pee...
I remembered a hunch...
I grabbed a stick...
two minutes later...
there were two lines.

Last Christmas, Kiel and I received the best gift of all. We found out that we were pregnant with our beautiful boy. Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year. I will cherish this memory for the rest of my life.
