Isaiah 46:4

When it comes to our little man, things have not gone quite as smoothly as I had hoped they would. At times, I tend to get very overwhelmed with emotion when I think of all the abnormal worries that Kiel and I have to carry because of our little man's heart condition. He isn't even physically here yet, and he is constantly on my mind. I found this beautiful bible verse above on pinterest and it really spoke to me. I view it almost everyday and I relate it to my little man and his future struggles. I know that Kiel and I will be great parents to our boy, and when times get tough I will do everything in my power to limit his stress and comfort him.
We have another CHOP visit on July 1st. We will get another echocardiogram to evaluate his little heart. I'm hoping and praying for some encouraging news. Call it mother's intuition, but I have a really good feeling about everything. We are doing what we can to stay positive and our hopes are definitely high. Please keep our family in your prayers.

Firefly Festival 2013

Firefly was three times what is was in 2012. Last year, the total crowd per day consisted of about 15-20,000 people... this year that number tripled at around 60,000 people per day. It was not what I expected in the least, and being that I am over seven months pregnant I was a bit overwhelmed. Kiel and I bought three day passes, but unfortunately only made it to two of the days. My pregnant body just wasn't having it on Sunday. Despite the fact that we couldn't get to enjoy the entire event, we did catch some incredible bands consisting of: Atlas Genius, Dr. Dog, Avett Brothers, Alabama Shakes, Last Royals acoustic set, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Not to mention, that we got to spend some time with many of our long distance pals spread across the east coast. Overall, the weekend was a total success. It took about two days to recover from the intense heat, and all the walking, but I think it was well worth the effort. I'm thinking maybe just one day next year.. if we can find a babysitter.

Happy Birthday Oliver!

Happy Fourth Birthday to the cutest, most devoted pup I know! Growing up, the Kemske kids were not allowed to have pets, nor did we really ever care much to ask for a family dog/cat. I never knew what it was like to have an animal in the family, and now that I do, I cannot even remotely imagine one day without my little guy. He makes us whole. Thank you Ollie dog, for your loyalty and love. I hope you have a magnificent birthday... full of doggy daycare, frosty paws, and belly rubs.

A Beautiful Mess: The App

I recently downloaded the Beautiful Mess App on my iPhone by Elsie + Emma of A Beautiful Mess.
It's pretty amazing. I love jazzing up my iPhone photos and this app allows me to take it to a whole new level of jazz. Well worth the 99 cents spent.

I honestly do love this little man more than ever.
The most beautiful drink set-up at a gorgeous outdoor fiesta-themed bridal shower.
My sister and I... both preg. Her little babe will be here before we know it & I cannot wait!
As of June 11th, we were at the 28 week mark . Our little boy is growing so big in there!

Beat the Heat

My Five Fave Summer Snacks
to keep you cool on the hot summer days

1. Refreshing Lemonade with Mango
A. If you don't a have tumblr by now... please go get one. These amazing sweat-free adult-sized sippy cups are honestly life-changing. I have never drank the appropriate amount of daily water intake until I had one of these. They keep your bevs cool for hours on end. Go to your local Bed, Bath, and Beyond, use a 20% off coupon, and invest. B. I have become obsessed with juice throughout my pregnancy.. mostly because water with lemon became a bit boring over time. I recently discovered Simply Lemonade with Mango and let me tell you... it's amazing. I am like a kid, so I dilute my juice with H20. I fill my tumblr with ice, then half water, then half juice. It's the most refreshing drink you'll ever have. Trust. Sometimes I even add a little fresh lemon slice to jazz things up.

2. Apples & Yummy Yogurt Dip
Dice up a nice, juicy apple. Grab a cup of non-fat vanilla greek yogurt, then mix in 1 tbsp of PB, a dollop of agave, and a dash of cinnamon. Stir together then dip your slices. And there you have it... a delish, protein-packed snack.

3. Summer Salad
My favorite summer salad consists of no lettuce at all.  Dice up a tomato. Grab half a cucumber, remove the skin and dice. Dice up one whole avocado. Add in about 1.5 tbsp of reduced-fat feta. Finely chop up about one tbsp of red onion. Toss into a bowl, dash with salt and pepper. Then add a bit of oil and balsamic, mix, and serve.

4. A Very Berry Smoothie
For starters, I use a magic bullet. I purchased it from Bed, Bath, and Beyond for around $40. I truly think it has been well worth the price. This little handy-dandy machine takes up little space on your counter top and acts as somewhat of a food processor. It puts your standard blender to shame. It's great for home-made salsa, chicken salad, and, of course, fruit smoothies. My favorite summer treat is a very berry smoothie. I use 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries, 1/4 cup of frozen raspberries, and about 3-4 frozen strawberries. I then add in about 1/2 cup of vanilla greek yogurt, a heavy dollop of agave nectar, and about 3/4 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Mix and viola!

5. Vanilla Frozen Yogurt with a dash of cinnamon, topped with amazing fruit salsa.
For the salsa, one kiwi (peeled and diced), one golden delicious apple (peeled and diced), 8 oz. of red raspberries, one carton of strawberries (diced). Mix in a large bowl with 1.5 tbsp of strawberry preserves, 1.5 tbsp of white sugar, and 1/2 tbsp of brown sugar.

Festival Style

Delaware's Firefly Festival is coming up soon and I have been mulling over what wear. Dressing my ever-growing body is not quite as easy as it used to be, so it's important to plan ahead. I'm really hoping that the weather holds out this year!

DIY: Upholstered Headboard

I give 100% of the credit to Kiel for making this headboard (I mostly just supervised and helped pick out materials). He had been saying that he would make one for a while, and there were times I seriously doubted he would do it. To my surprise, he finished it all within a day and it actually turned out really nice! Thank you Pinterest!

Baby Drake Update

27 Weeks! Where did the time go? I am nearing my third trimester... which is pretty overwhelming when I really start to think about everything. Overall, I have to say, I am feeling pretty wonderful. A few pee breaks during the night, but I honestly can't complain!

Kiel and I had several appointments at CHOP today. We had a standard fetal ultrasound to measure the baby's overall growth. To our surprise, little man is developing beautifully in there. He is in the 75th percentile, weighing in at 2 pounds, 4 ounces already! According to our OB, he is measuring about a week ahead of schedule! And it looks like my placenta previa has finally resolved. Phew! Now, the chances of me delivering my little mister normally have drastically increased!

We also had a follow-up fetal echocardiogram, to check on his little heart. Apparently, things are looking relatively un-changed from our last visit. According to the cardiologist, "No news is good news" and he stated that things look very encouraging, which we were glad to hear. We were in the hospital all day, with appointments lasting from 7am to 2pm. Needless to say, we are exhausted, but we couldn't be more happy with our decision to receive our care at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Everyone we met was so encouraging and supportive.

Thanks to all for the love and support. Not a day goes by, that I don't wake up feeling grateful for all the friends and family we have rooting for us.

Life Lately... according to my iPhone

We kicked off summer down the beach with most of my family at my parent's beach home in Bethany Beach. The weather wasn't ideal, but we all made the most of our time together, and it turned out to be a whole lot of fun. My little nieces loved on Oliver all weekend, he was in heaven. We spent evenings out, catching up with good friends.

Kiel and I spent this past Saturday down south, as well. We ventured onto the drive-on beach for the first time, and it was everything we imagined it to be... a very relaxing day spent with friends in the sunshine. Last night, we caught the sunset from my parent's dock and it couldn't have been more picturesque. I have a feeling that June is going to be great month.
